Due to the success of the Portland Streetcar line since it’s inception in 2001, the City is adding an extension called the Portland East Side Loop. The project was approved for Project Development through the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the City received $75 million from the FTA in April, 2009. Construction of the line began in 2009.
